IF MY BODY WAS ON FIRE, OH you'd watch me burn down in flames
Walking, it was what the young woman, known by the name of Kiseki, did the most nowadays and she found that she didn't quite mind it. However, being just a novice at traveling, especially on foot, it easily took its toll on her body and soon enough she would grow quite tired and fatigued, which would then cause her to make camp for the night.
Usually it would take her half the day to find a source of water to do her usual routines such as cleanse, wash her clothes and gather drinkable water for the next...well, for as long as it took until she could find another water source or a town to stay in for a few weeks or months.
However, today she got lucky. As she was traveling through the north, she had strayed from the path, which wasn't much of surprise because it happened often, but this time as she was trying to find her way back to the path she inadvertently stumbled upon a hot springs. Upon seeing the steaming pool of water surrounded by a few tall rocks and hidden behind thick enough foliage where invading eyes wouldn't be able to see, she couldn't help but stop for the time being and perhaps take a long soak to ease the tense muscles she'd developed from being unused to long travel.
Setting down her belongings she took out a wash cloth, soaps and a towel that she hung on a tree branch that was close enough for her to reach without getting up. Taking off her slippers, she’d been about to remove her yukata when she felt something soft rub against her leg. With a small squeal she jumped back and looked down only to see her kitten, Chico mew at her.
“Oh. Chico-nyan…you startled me.” She murmured as she picked up the black kitten. The little kitten had been in the small bag she carried with her and must have woken and gotten out when she wasn’t looking. She took out the kitten’s blanket from said bag and laid it out on the nearby grass surrounding the onsen and placed the kitten there where it immediately curled up and cuddled against the soft fabric. Kise laughed at the kitten’s antics and scratched its ears out of affection. Once the kitten was satisfied, Kise returned to the edge of the onsen and began to remove her yukata, starting with removing the colorful obi.

he's a wolf in disguise and you look good enough to eat He was one for indulging. It was necessary. He liked the finer things in life. So, it wasn't unlike Jun to have his own type of picnic out in the northern woods. But as the demon made himself comfortable, he caught movement in his peripheral vision. His cold eyes slid to their corners as he raised a teacup to his mouth. " It would be wise to check your surroundings before you become vulnerable to perverts." He hoped that would catch her attention enough to scare her off to somewhere else. Mori had been here maybe an hour ago and it seemed as though his animals had missed a spot. " Do forgive me, my dear. But, it is breakfast time." He said, noticing that his cup was empty now. " I should warn you that the god of this forest was just wandering about in this area. So, be very quiet if you really do intend to bathe." Jun remarked as he poured his tea. Perfectly holding the cup directly under the teapot although it was raised directly above it about two feet in distance. " However, don't mind me in the slightest." His eyes blinked. They had been preoccupied with the human the entire time he performed his tea ceremony of sorts. " I can do this with my eyes elsewhere." He scoffed as his eyes rolled just a bit. A gentleman, or he put on those airs and human women sucked that sort of thing up. His handsome features were all too apparent in the morning sunlight. Just a small lean of his head put his beauty in another position to behold. He was very aware of it and it would be stupidity not to use it to his advantage. " Teacake?" He said in a voice that sounded much closer than before. " There's a bit of cream on the top. They come from a bakery in the Commerce Square. They're rather hard to get but, are quite good." He said, holding a plate to the human girl's chest. He blinked at her, as if he had been absent minded, and his eyes rolled upward. He gave a soft sigh. " Oh, but I am a stranger, am I not? How silly." He smiled gently. " I keep forgetting that young girls are taught not to talk to such people. What a gross miscalculation on my part. Do forgive me." In a flash, he was back at his table silently stirring his tea with a spoon. He had a proper set up, complete with chairs. A dainty white tablecloth covered the round table made for two. He sat for a minute, sipping at his tea without a slurp. He laid the cup down and smiled. His elbows came to rest on the table, unmannerly, but he had no formal company...Yet. Jun's eyes slid to the young girl once again. His fingers laced together, and his chin rested on them as he casually observed her. She wasn't horrifying but she wasn't exactly exceptional either. A natural human beauty he confirmed in his head. One that he could specifically find appealing to play with, given the time. Time, he blinked elegantly and looked to the large silver watch at his wrist. He had plenty of it. words :: 540 tagged :: kise and the monster notes :: nada credits :: by pademelon of on the edge!

IF MY BODY WAS ON FIRE, OH you'd watch me burn down in flames
She had almost gotten her obi unraveled when a smooth voice startled her by speaking.
"It would be wise to check your surroundings before you become vulnerable to perverts."
Quickly stopping her action with unraveling her obi she looked around quickly and soon enough found the source to be that of a man...having tea...in the forest... with a full tea set, table and all. 'If that doesn't say odd, I don't know what does.' She thought as she quickly retied her obi in a messy manner. As she did so the man began speaking again.
"I should warn you that the god of this forest was just wandering about in this area. So, be very quiet if you really do intend to bathe."
"Eh? A god governs this forest? Oh, that's shame." She commented as she pouted and looked at the springs longingly. As much as she wanted to, she wasn't about to invade someone else's bath without permission. She'd heard the stories about the disagreement between gods and humans and frankly she didn't want to get involved. Now that the thought crossed her mind, the odd man who was drinking tea in the forest perplexed her with his words. Had he seen the god? She'd heard stories that gods often took human forms, but this man was able to see it and lived? There have been stories that no human has ever survived an encounter with a god, unless they offered something to the god to spare their lives. Or were those demons? Now she wasn't quite sure and was probably getting stories mixed up. Those old biddies in the previous town liked to talk about the supernatural, and she was subjected to listen to their tales since it would have been rude to refuse.
Pre-occupied with her own thoughts, she hadn't notice the man come up to her and practically shove a small plate of...
"Teacake? There's a bit of cream on the top. They come from a bakery in the Commerce Square. They're rather hard to get but, are quite good."
at her bosom. Was it just her or did the tone in his voice have a slight croon to it. Taking the plate she smiled awkwardly at the stranger and was about to say her thanks when he spoke again.
"Oh, but I am a stranger, am I not? How silly. I keep forgetting that young girls are taught not to talk to such people. What a gross miscalculation on my part. Do forgive me."
"Well actually I-" She was cut off however when she blinked for only a moment and the man had disappeared from her sights and apparently returned to his table. She blinked dumbfounded for a moment and when she heard a questioning mew, she looked down only to see her kitten looking at her. "I'm not quite sure either Chico-nyan." She murmured to the cat and turned her eyes to the man who sat at his table looking at her for a moment before looking at his watch.
She supposed simply leaving would make her seem ungrateful, especially after he had so kindly offered her cake. So turning back she collected her belongings, and Chico and walked towards the table. Setting her bag down, along with her Kitten and she placed the plate of cake down on the table. "I wanted to thank you for the cake." She stated as she bowed in gratitude. "It was kind of you to offer such a delicacy to someone, a stranger like me." She continued as she stood back up from her bow. "Usually, I would refuse, but I don't think that would be proper."
"So, instead I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Kiseki Kyouka, a simple traveler. I am honored to meet your acquaintance." She introduced herself and bowed again once more. As she stood from her bow again, her posture and expression became meek and she covered her mouth with a sleeve out of habit. "If it's not too bold of me to ask, why does a refined-looking man such as yourself doing having tea...in the middle of the forest? Not to mention one governed by a god?" She had thought most humans feared the gods and tried not to stray from the path as much as possible so they could leave quickly and in peace without disturbing anyone. However this man was boldly in the middle of the forest, having tea of all things. Then again, she had strayed from the path as well, and had almost ignorantly taken a soak in said god's bath. Perhaps she and the strange man were much more similar than simply having an affinity for pastries and tea.

he's a wolf in disguise and you look good enough to eat " No trouble at all, my dear." Jun told her, still letting his chin rest on his laced fingers. " I'm just brimming with manners." He said gallantly but with a tinge of sarcasm lingering about his words. " And it seems that you are as well." He commented but despite the obvious flaws in her ways, he would ignore them until a more appropriate time. " You'd like to introduce yourself, would you?" He smiled as he looked to his flatware. " Then by all means." He said, raising his teacup to his mouth. He took a sip then laid the cup back down to it' saucer. He paused for a moment as if taking the time to enjoy the taste of the tea. " Kiseki Kyouka." He pronounced every syllable as if they were musical notes escaping his throat. " What an auspicious name." His eyes seemed dull for a moment. " In other words, a cute name for cute girl." He raised an index finger to the girl and gave a wink. A knowing smile stretched across the demon's face and his eyebrow sank. " What or why? It's simple really." Jun said but then suddenly gave a yawn. " But boring and complicated. Or perhaps you should ask whom?" He a habit of talking in circles. Humans were easily confused and he liked that. It made them all the more easier to terminate. " Let me explain further." He said, reaching for her hand and taking hold of it. " Kiseki, I am what you call a servant. A humble pauper of the unwashed masses and yet by all classification of known living beings, of higher standard than humans." He visibly took an accentuated breath. " I am what humans call a demon." He grinned at her as if he was calling himself an angel instead. " And we demons do enjoy nature so. I have just made it a hobby to come out to this forest every so often to have a nice breakfast and perhaps trap a human girl who no one will miss and make them my love slave for all of eternity." His eyes had darkened the more he spoke until they were ripe with a blazing hatred. " Too much?" He blinked with wide innocent eyes once again. " Or, there is the reverse. That I am just a simple pervert." He said appearing at her side and pulling out a chair for her. " Of course, if the latter explanation was in fact true, you needn't worry, for you have not undressed." He leaned down to her and let his hand wave the delicious breakfast into existence before her. " Please, have as much as you like. I do so love company." He smiled again and in a breath he was back at his seat across the table making himself comfortable in his chair. " So, my dear sweet Alice, shall I pour you some tea, milk, coffee, orange juice, sacrificed goat's blood?" He asked, sipping his tea casually. " Unfortunately, I'm fresh out of the goat's blood. I'm still waiting for the shipment from the mainland." He looked depressed for a moment and rolled his eyes. " Kiseki, my sweet, shall I ask an opinion of you?" He blinked at her and decided to ask it of her anyway, disregarding any barriers that rely on permission. " How do you find this human form of mine in comparison to other male faces?" He leaned across the table and his cold eyes met hers. " Is it pleasing, this facade?" Jun asked with an eyebrow raised. " I was contemplating a more sunny appearance. Hair the color of the sun, eyes the color of the sky..." He paused and sat back in his chair. " But, I do love dark hair the most. It has a depth to it that lighter shades lack. When you run your fingers through it, it's almost as if they've become lost in a void." His eyebrows raised momentarily as if he had caught himself saying too much. Maybe he was being a bit too poetic. " Now, now! Falling in love with me won't do anyone any good!" He waved his index finger at her. " But I must confess, you are a beauty." He was being facetious. Women took their beauty seriously and the demon could not care in the slightest. " Shall we have a wedding in May or June, Kiseki?" He asked her with a smile. " May is beautiful with flowers and such." He said as he reached to the gorgeously ornate centerpiece. He plucked a carnation from it and leaned over the table. " But I do like the summer months." He reached and pushed the steam of the flower into her hair. " Like art." He grinned and picked up his tea cup to toast to her. " To our happily ever after, my love." words :: 795 tagged :: kise and the monster notes :: TALK! TALK! TALK! credits :: by pademelon of on the edge!

IF MY BODY WAS ON FIRE, OH you'd watch me burn down in flames
Did he just compliment her for a cute name? And apparently he found her 'cute' as well. Kise had nothing to reply to that, not even thanks since she'd never really been given compliments before. Unsure of how to react, she simply stood there and nodded.
What? Why? Whom? She wasn't sure if any of that even related to her question. Again, she said nothing and merely nodded to indicate that she was at the very least listening to what he this man was saying. When he stated that he would explain, he reached out his hand and took her into his own. Confused, she simply stared at their joined hands and when she tried to subtly pull away, she found that she could barely move the fingers of her dainty hand since they were practically engulfed in the man's own much larger hand.
Feeling a little uncomfortable at the contact, she tried to distract herself by continuing to listen to his words. A servant, yet above humans? What was he talking about? She opened her mouth to ask what he had meant when his following words, pretty much answered her unvoiced question.
"I am what humans call a demon."
Blinking once, twice, three times to be sure she wasn't just dreaming. She was even tempted to slap herself. "E-Eh?" Was the only coherent word she could form at that moment. She was too shocked to even think anything else besides the fact that this man was supposedly a demon, a demon that had her hand in his grasp. Kise learned from the old biddies that she should never take such 'confessions' lightly whether they be truth of jest. So for the time being, she would play along until she could be sure. She just hoped she wasn't about to walk right into her death sentence.
He said something about demons liking nature, how wanted to have some breakfast, hoping to trap a human girl to become -- wait what? "Eh?!" She squeaked again. Both by his odd deceleration and the look in his eyes and sent an odd chill down her spine. Surely this time he was jesting. Love slave? They had barely even known each other for an hour, how could she possibly be a slave to love for this man...er demon.
"'Too much?"
"Just a bit." was her quick reply, until he began speaking again. Something about him being a pervert, 'At least he's honest' she thought as he suddenly appeared by her side and pulled up a chair for her. Courteously, she sat down as was customary of proper etiquette.
"Of course, if the latter explanation was in fact true, you needn't worry, for you have not undressed."
"I think there's more to worry about than simply my state of...dress." She murmured as he leaned down and gestured to the...wait did the eloquent breakfast before her just appear out of nowhere? 'Oh my gods...he really is a demon!' She tried to keep her alarmed expression hidden; however, she was someone who was very open with her emotions so trying to hide her slight state of panic was fairly difficult.
Coming slightly out of her stupor, she heard him asking her if she wanted a drink, he offered a variety...including goat's blood and Kise found herself trying her hardest not to gag. Sure, she ate meat and fish but they were cooked and had no traces of blood whatsoever. Her suspicion of him being an actual demon was enforced even more when he actually looked fairly disappointed that he couldn't serve blood. "I'll just have tea please." She murmured weakly and tried to steady her breathing.
He was speaking again. My, this fellow really liked to talk and he was asking her for her opinion. Unsure, she nodded despite not knowing that he was talking about, but it seems that he even bothered to wait for a reply anyways and asked if she found his human form pleasing compared to other males. 'Pleasing? In what sense?' She wondered unsure of what answer he wanted from her. "I find your human form to be...just fine I suppose. I wouldn't really know what others would consider handsome or beautiful nowadays." She murmured, looking down at the hands that were folded on her lap. She didn't even bother too look-up to see if he had heard or even cared for her reply.
And then suddenly he blurted something about falling in love. Kise looked up this time, letting out another questioning "Eh?" At the statement. What was it with this demon and all his love talk? Was he lonely or something? She'll admit he was a looker, possibly beyond the standards of the other young females looking for handsome suitors; however, she wasn't much for looks and simply cared for the bond between a man and a woman who truly felt deeply for each other. She was pretty certain she felt no such attraction for this man...demon. My, that certainly was going to be hard to accept.
Again he complimented her but what he said next nearly hand her falling off her seat. "W-W-Wha-...m-marriage?!" She questioned incredulously. "Surely sir, you must be jesting!" She continued but paused as he placed the flower behind her ear. It was then he raised his cup in toast and said.
"To our happily ever after, my love."
She wasn't sure which she should act on, the urge to run or break down in tears. Feeling the pangs of a headache beginning she rubbed her temples trying to ease some of the pain. "Sir, as much as I am...flattered by your...proposal, I do not think we are well acquainted enough for such a monumental act of commitment and fidelity." She tried to keep her voice steady, but her words came out in breathy pants caused by the slight panic this demon had caused by even suggesting such a notion.
"Surely, a mere human such as myself would not be fit to be the bride of one such as yourself." She carefully stated, hoping to play into this demon's ego enough to convince him to simply let her leave without her having to give anything in return, and by anything she meant her mind, body and soul. She'd like to keep all three intact and in one piece.
"If not a demon bride, then perhaps I could assist you in finding a more befitting (and willing) human bride. Surely there are others far more beautiful and alluring that would suit your tastes." She continued trying to give off an air of calm though she could feel her knees shaking underneath the table.

he's a wolf in disguise and you look good enough to eat " Proposal?!" Jun coughed and spat some of his tea. He stared at his captive human with a wide eyed expression. " Who said anything about a proposal?" His right eyebrow arched high, giving the impression of his snobbery to it's greatest extent. Obviously, he knew what Kiseki was speaking of. But admitting that he knew was a different story entirely. Seeing the human girl shaken up by just his conversation was enough to make him press onward. He rather loved tormenting human girls. " Are you looking down on me?" He asked her with a smile as he raised a butterknife up from the table. He eyed it suspiciously, hoping that it would bring about a reaction of fear from Kiseki. He turned the knife and prodded the table cloth with it. Just his index finger resting on the bottom of the knife's handle, he looked up at Kiseki with a deadly glare until she mentioned offering her assistance in finding him a bride. " Kiseki, I don't need a bride." He laid the butter knife back down on the table near the other flatware and folded his hands as he smiled at her. " A slave would do the trick!" He chirped happily with a grin. " Come now..." He said softly as his head tilted to the right like the innocent person he wasn't. " Can we be honest with each other?" He blinked. " My dear..." He lifted an eyebrow, looking toward the lush greenery of the forest to his left for a moment as if someone or something was there. Quickly, his attention reverted back to Kiseki and it was as though he was someone else once again. " Did you want cream or sugar, pet?" He asked as a shoved both of the containers toward her side of the table. " Since you are so desperate to be of use to me as my companion and perhaps future bride, I had better tell you." He paused, with yet another glint of serious business in his eyes.
